Signet Ring
Traditionally a signet ring was used as a form of signature often bearing the persons initials or a monogram. The engraver would create a mirror image of the initals or monogram on the signet ring to allow the person to press their signature into a clay seal on a document to prevent tampering. Because of this, signet rings are often known as seal rings.
